NASA’s space shuttle Endeavour will make a brief appearance over Malibu on Friday morning en route to its permanent home at the California Science Center.
NASA announced Thursday that the original flight schedule had been delayed due to fog in San Francisco.
Now, beginning at approximately 11:30 on Friday morning, Endeavour is scheduled to fly over several Southern California landmarks, including the Getty Center, Griffith Observatory, Disneyland and Malibu.
The space shuttle, mounted on the roof of a Boeing 747 shuttle carrier, landed at Edwards Airforce Base on Thursday afternoon and is also set to make flyovers over parts of Northern California early on Friday before circling around Southern California and landing at LAX around 11 a.m.
The California Science Center in Downtown Los Angeles will begin publicly displaying the shuttle in October.
Endeavour began its journey from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla., on Monday. Houston, Mississippi and Louisiana also received abbreviated flyover visits from the craft along the way.
