From play performances to basketball classes, there’s plenty to do this weekend in Malibu.
Friday night brings SurfAid International’s “Behind the Palms” fundraising event to Malibu. The event will feature performances by Donavon Frankenreiter and DJ Mario Cotto, a screening of “Behind the Palms: 10 Years of SurfAid,” a silent auction, raffles, food and drinks. Friday is also opening night for the Malibu Stage Repertory Theater’s newest play, Arthur Miller’s “The Ride Down Mt. Morgan.” The story follows a New York man with two families who is forced to confront both at once after a near-fatal car crash. This Sunday, Patriot Day is observed in honor of those who lost their lives during the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The City of Malibu is hosting a basketball clinic Sunday, where L.A. Sparks forward Candace Parker will teach participants about the game and how to improve their skills.
