Pepperdine Names New Women’s Swimming and Diving Head Coach

Joe Spahn, assistant swimming coach at University of Notre Dame, has been named Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving head coach. The announcement came from the university’s director of athletics Dr. Steve Potts on Monday.

In his third year at Notre Dame, Spahn led the women’s and men’s teams to NCAA Championships. The program also set 47 school records and has 11 All-American athletes.

He hails from Albuquerque, N.M., and attended Minnesota State University Mankato. While there, he received honors for distance swimming.

In a statement to Pepperdine Athletics, Spahn said: “I am extremely humbled and honored to lead the Pepperdine University women’s swimming and diving program … I look forward to continuing a positive Pepperdine student-athlete experience through Christian values, academic excellence and competing for championships.”
