LUCE della Citta

It will be a night of art, music and mingling as LUCE della Citta (“light of the city” from Italian) hosts an opening night reception for artist Ron Burkhardt.

The reception will take place on Thurs., Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. and feature Burkhardt’s solo exhibition, which will remain at the gallery from Nov. 14, 2013 to Jan. 10, 2014.

Wine from local Malibu wineries will be served and catering will be provided by the newly opened Kaishin. Part of the entertainment for the night will feature a Renaissance and Classic Guitar concert by Pepperdine students Andrew Urias and Sergio Gallardo as part of LUCE’s collaboration with the University’s Art and Music Department faculty.

LUCE della Citta is Malibu Country Mart’s newest fine art gallery luxury home decor store. LUCE offers a wide selection of hand-blown Murano glass pieces and focuses on showcasing one-of-a-kind art glass pieces and luxury Italian home decor.

The gallery’s underlying concept is to feature an artist in a solo exhibition on a rotating basis. The exhibitions will specialize in abstract expressionism and and show case both emerging and established artists from around the world.

This time the featured artist  is Ron Burkhardt. Burkhardt is the founder of the Notism art movement, which depicts the human urge to preserve our memory and history by capturing it in scribbles. He is also notable for his Earthscapes series, which captures nature’s influence on anything in its path.

“We’re pleased to welcome Ron Burkhardt to LUCE della Citta,” said Alexandra Stanley, CEO and the owner of LUCE in a press release from the company.

“Burkhardt’s distinct style speaks to the diverse collection of art presented by LUCE and will surely enhance the art collector’s experience in Malibu, a city currently making moves to become the next art mecca.”

LUCE will feature work from both Burkhardt’s Notism and Earthscapes series  in the exhibition, opening up his work to new audiences in Malibu and Los Angeles.
