Local athletes James Townsend and Bryce Binnette wrapped up their season with the Westlake Braves of the Gold Coast Youth Football Team last week in a 30-20 loss against the Santa Clarita Wildcats in the semi-finals of the playoffs.
Townsend played middle linebacker, center and fullback while Binnette played defensive end and offensive tackle for the Braves.
Both Townsend and Binnette were named to the FBU Los Angeles Regional 8th Grade Team that will play in the FBU National Championship series in December. They were chosen through a series of tryouts and will compete in their first-round games in
Binnette is currently in the 8th grade at Oaks Christian School. Townsend is currently in the 8th grade at St. Jude School in Westlake Village and previously attended Our Lady of Malibu.
