This is the third serious accident, with two local deaths, in less than a week in Malibu.
Four people were injured in a traffic accident at Pacific Coast Highway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard today, Thursday at 4:30 p.m. when a silver Prius and a van collided.
The accident closed the southbound lanes of PCH and one northbound lane for an hour. A southbound lane was reopened at approximately 6 p.m. All lanes were reopened by 6 p.m.
On accident victim was transported by helicopter to UCLA Medical Center and Los Angeles Fire paramedics to UCLA and Westwood medical centers transported three accident victims.
This is the third serious traffic accident, one involving a death, that has occurred in the Malibu area this week.
On Tuesday, a single-car accident took place on Kanan-Dume Road near tunnel No. 1, reportedly killing Steve Halpern, 61, and his mother, Belle, 90. A local resident told another local publication that Belle died at the scene and Steve died later after being transported to a hospital.
Later Tuesday evening, a pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a truck on PCH near Malibu Pier.
She was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center with serious injuries.
