Bill Littlejohn, well-known animator and pilot, died Sept. 17 at his home in Malibu. He was 96.
Littlejohn was born in New Jersey in 1914. He enjoyed skiing, tennis and creative design in addition to being an animator and aviator.
During his time as a pilot, Littlejohn aided in instructing the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was also a test pilot for Hamilton Standard props.
Littlejohn was an animator for “The Peanuts,” among other animated shows. He was known for bringing the character of Snoopy to life in many “Peanuts” episodes. Littlejohn was also one of the founders of ASIFA West, later called ASIFA Hollywood, an organization which supports animation.
Littlejohn is survived by his children Steve and Toni, and his grandchildren.
