I just learned that the Malibu Animal Hospital and its associated Canine Connection doggy day care, have received a 90-day notice from their landlord, Malibu Bay Company, to vacate the premises they lease. This action will result in a terrible loss to the Malibu community. It will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to find a suitable alternative location for them in Malibu,
Not only do veterinarian Dr. Lisa Newell and her staff provide outstanding full service veterinary care to the Malibu community’s pets, the hospital also treats our local injured wildlife. The potential loss of this valuable resource is inconceivable.
Whatever development plans that the Malibu Bay company may have for the site surely will not better serve the needs of, or enhance the quality of life in our wonderful community. Malibu does not need any more retail businesses, especially at the cost of a loss of an essential local service. I, and I am sure many Malibu citizens, are saddened and outraged by this action, which will indisputably diminish our community.
