Marc Stern, a 63-year-old Malibu resident, has been appointed to the California Science Center Board of Directors.
Since 2005, he has served as chair of Société Générale’s Global Investment and Services in North America and as vice chair of The TCW Group Inc. Stern also serves as a director of Qualcomm Inc., where he has been a member of the board since 1994. He previously served as president of TCW from 1991 to 2005. Stern served as president of Sun America Incorporated from 1989 to 1991 and as managing director and chief administrative officer for The Henley Group Inc. and its predecessors from 1974 to 1988. Prior to that, Stern was an attorney for the law firm, Debevoise & Plimpton, from 1970 to 1974.
He is chair and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles Opera Co. Stern is a member of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities and the Caltech Board of Trustees.
