Malibu Wind Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for much of Los Angeles and Ventura counties starting Saturday night and lasting through Monday due to very low humidities and gusty northeast winds.

A Wind Advisory has also been issued as a sharp increase in offshore winds Saturday night will bring winds of 40 to 50 mph in many locations, resulting in rapid lowering of humidities, likely falling below 15 percent. The combination of high winds, low humidity and dry fuel has prompted the warning of high fire danger.

Santa Ana winds will peak in strength from mid-morning to early afternoon Sunday, with peak wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph in the mountains and 35 to 50 mph in the coast and valleys. There may be a lull in winds Sunday evening before picking back up Monday morning.

Offshore winds are projected to weaken Monday afternoon, with onshore winds returning along the coast. However, the warm and very dry conditions are expected to continue through Monday afternoon and evening, according to the NWS.
