Academy Award-nominated director Roko Belic gave a sneak peek of his new documentary, “Happy,” to an audience at Pepperdine University April 21. After the screening, communications professor Craig Detweiler hosted a discussion with Belic regarding the film.
The documentary chronicles personal stories of the search for happiness across five continents. The film was inspired in part by producer and Pepperdine professor Tom Shadyac, who gave the director an article ranking the U.S. as the 23rd “happiest country” in 2005.
“My hope is that the film not only helps individuals find peace and contentment, but also that their personal happiness will lead to a more generous, more aware and more compassionate world,” Belic said.
