In response to Dr. O’Neil’s letter two weeks ago, I can say that the Malibu City Council has been sitting on the Pepperdine proposal for a Seniors Center for the last 10 years and to date has done nothing about it. Meanwhile our senior citizens have had to seek retirement homes elsewhere — one in Ventura, one in Camarillo and one in Santa Monica. I think this is a shame for people who have lived in Malibu for many ears to have to move out for the lack of a retirement facility in Malibu. Of course, the hatred of Pepperdine has been handed down since the Walt Keller days. This is a terrible mistake when we think of what Pepperdine has given to this community.
My suggestion to all Malibu voters in the next election is to vote for Beverly Taki and you will get things done.
